date dance

We had a wonderful weekend visiting our friends who own a date farm. The dates are ripe and we wanted to be able to help with the harvest.

While our friends who came with us worked in the honey house warming and straining the honey comb we brought.....

Jay went up in the scissor lift and picked dates out of the trees....

and I learned the rules of date sorting...

After gathering a group of dates that were similar in their ripeness I put them in a wet towel, folded the towel into a long tube, and held up one end of the towel at a time allowing the dates to roll back and forth inside the towel to remove anything that might be stuck to them.

Dianne taught me everything I know about sorting and cleaning dates. We enjoyed getting to know one another as we worked.

The trays of sorted fruit were placed in the screened in porch to dry...

before being sealed in glass jars.

After a long hot morning of sorting dates I enjoyed cooling off in pool.

garden gone wild

Before I left for Michigan we hooked up an auto-drip system to water the garden.

The plants have thrived on the regular soaking and are all growing big but the watermelon plants have gone crazy. They are growing over, up, down, and around the garden. The enclosure looks a bit like a green cave.

We have discovered four watermelons in the last few days. Three of them were growing on the outside of the bird netting and were relocated to the roof above the garden.

The fourth watermelon is hanging inside the enclosure.

Holiday Highlights part 2....dancing with Shekinah Fire International

Watch out Frankenmuth...here we come...

Shekinah Fire International, the dance ministry I had been a part of when I lived in Michigan, conveniently planned an overnight trip while I was home. We drove to the Frankenmuth, a local tourist town, and had a wonderful time painting the quaint little German town.

We couldn't resist playing in the mirrors that we found at a little dance studio.

We had a wonderful time exploring all the interesting things found in the little Herb
Haus.

We had to visit the Cheese Haus and sample free cheese....

Found a storefront just perfect setting for a group photo...

Nettie was Really hungry!

We had a grand time in our hotel room....every one got foot rubs and lots of stories were shared.

Saturday morning in our hotel room we had a wonderful spontaneous time of worship and prayer.

What wonderful friends I have :)
