seventeen minutes

When I pushed the purchase button seventeen minutes past midnight Thursday morning I was greeted by an unwelcome electronic reply: your coupon (for 50% off) is no longer valid. In my mind I had calculated that had an until one AM, thinking that we are in a different time zone than California. But alas, my non-daylight savings time Arizona-brain did not check to see if we are currently connected with Mountain or Pacific time. My 17 minute mistake will cause me to have to wait an undetermined amount of time until the next 50% off sale to see this latest photo creation in it's finished form.

kitchen inspiration

For Julie:

Individual white veggie pizza; it all started with the discovery of a package of square flat bread at the discount store....

and ended with four happy tummies.

aqua

Today Lily exchanged her kelly green cast for aqua. The doctor said she is healing well. Praise YaH! Her grandpa went with me to pick her up and asked all kinds of questions that only nursing-trained type people would know to ask. After the Dr. visit her grandma watched over her while I finished my house cleaning job. The money earned didn't even have time to burn a whole but was happily spent to get my baby fixed so she can run and play again. When I returned in the late afternoon Lily and I snuggled together; her in her drug induced stupor and me in my post-cleaning day exhaustion. Tired and happy together.

poor lily

Our Sunday plans came to an abrupt halt when Lily had a run in with a piece of sheet metal in the yard. The encounter left her with a 4 inch gash down the front of her right leg that sliced through three tendons. I held pads over the wound to stop the bleeding while Jay found a vet who was open on Sunday mornings. YaHWeH, watching over us, helped us to find a vet only a few miles away who was open until noon on Sundays. He was able to do the surgery to connect the tendons and by two thirty in the afternoon Lily was home again sporting a bright green cast and a fancy Elizabethan collar. She has done very well with the anesthesia wear-off and post-op medications and has even made a few three legged journeys in and out of the house. She'll visit the vet again on Wednesday morning to change the dressing and check on how the wound is healing. Although the surgery was a big hit on our wallet, we are blessed and rejoicing that it went well and she should eventually be able to return to he regular lizard chasing duties.
