learning curve

I'm attempting to learn some new photo editing skills. This photo is slightly out of focus but had lots of distracting stuff in the background which I attempted to smudge in an artistic way.

simply passover

With only about 24 hours between returning from the wedding and the start of Passover I decided that simplicity was the word of the hour. I had purchased lamb the previous week and planned to cook it using the rotisserie appliance that had been gifted to us by our favorite homeless person.

(Amy....see my reflection?)

The guest list, which I originally thought to be seven, dwindled down to three by the time the feasting began. The diminished number didn't lessen the excitement and delightement (yup...made that one up) of my first time hosting a Passover meal.

The morning started with digging through scripture, old and new, to locate all the passages telling thePassover story, directions on how we are to remember it, and how it was celebrated by Yeshua. I wanted to sort through all the traditions (although traditions are good for helping to tell the story) to determine the elements that are mentioned in YaHWeH's instructions. Thus, the apples I had purchased were put aside when I found that the Charoset/mortar is only mentioned in the Talmud. And after the meal started we removed the bowls of salt water "tears" which left us with the bitter herbs, the lamb, the "wine", and the matzah.

Each of us sat with a different version of the scriptures and read and discussed until our stomachs began to grumble. Then we ate our meal and finished the evening with various Youtube renditions of the Hallel, Psalms 113-118, put to music, topped off with frozen sugared grapes.

It was simply a wonderful Passover celebration.

dress rehearsal

Typically dress rehearsal for a wedding is a nice but casual attire affair. This fellow, however, arrived dressed in his finest.

wedding rose

The rose garden was abloom outside the conference center were we attended a wedding this past weekend. After all the wedding photos were taken I spent some time taking pictures in the garden.

huppah-ing

The countdown is on and Lura and I have been jumping through huppahs getting ready for the wedding this weekend. Last week we went shopping at a large discount material store to purchase supplies.

On Monday we set up the canopy and draped it with lights and gauzie material until we were sure we knew we had a plan that would work.

I had to draw a "map" in order to see how the three lengths of material might work together to cover all the ribs of the structure. We took a few minutes before starting the process to anoint the materials and pray.

On Tuesday we worked on design for the chairs.

And today we will work at attaching purple ribbon to the white aisle runner.

snow flowers

It was wet and chilly on Saturday morning; the Palo Verde covered in delicate yellow flowers and the mountain covered in clouds of snow.

moshe in the desert

Forget the pillow pets. Lily has a real-life pet to play with.

Our friends, Darrell and Beverly are staying with us again while they work on remodeling their motor home. Along with the human friends came Moshe, their 9 week old Husky-Malamute pup.

Lily has been both delighted and disgusted with the pup as he can be fun to play with but also tiresome at times and demanding of her human's attention.

As for the photographer, she is having trouble getting her work done as it's difficult to pass by the pup without succumbing to the urge to pick up the camera and take pictures.
