dancing with the new moon

Our involvement with Messianic believers has us watching the sky much more closely recently. On the second night of the new moon last month Jay took these photographs.

Why do you watch the moon more often?

The Jewish calendar of festivals and feasts is determined according to the sighting of the new moon....at least one of the calendars...there is also the Rabbinical calendar where the Rabbis try to predict ahead of time when new moons will happen. We have been observing the feasts and festivals with the community. It's been very interesting learning what is tradition and what is biblical. One of my favorites is Feast of Tabernacles that happens in the fall...we camp together for a week at a campground up north in the mountains of Prescott.
